A clip from NDOW about the botulism event at Carson Lake.
Nevada Department of Wildlife Today we're taking a closer look at efforts to fight a botulism outbreak in the Carson Lake Wetlands. This strain of botulism can be fatal in birds, but is not harmful to humans. NDOW, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Pacific Southwest Region, volunteers and numerous rehabilitators are working to rehabilitate diseased birds and keep the area clear from future contamintaions. Efforts have proven to be successful for many ducks and shorebirds, which have been safely released back into the Carson Lake Wetlands. We still need volunteers.
