Nevada Waterfowl Association is currently involved with the Lahontan Valley Wood Duck Project. Working in cooperation with the University of Nevada-Reno, Board of Regents, and Nevada Department of Wildlife, this project focuses on the "Demographic Response To Manipulated Harvest Rates In Wood Ducks In Lahontan Valley, Nevada." Additionally, the ongoing study incorporates a second aspect which is designed to introduce youth and the general public to data collection, management and career opportunities with migratory birds while they learn to apply math and science, and is being funded through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
