Nevada’s 2024 Conservation Message Winner

For the second year in a row, Nia Meunier, of Sunrise Mountain High School was awarded Best of Show. Her entry, entitled “The Quin,” is an acrylic painting of a harlequin duck.
The winning artwork will be sent to Washington DC to compete in the National Junior Duck Stamp Competition to be held in Fall Church, VA, on April 19, 2024. From there, it will tour the United States as part of the National Junior Duck Stamp art show.
Kaitlin Garant’s, Coral Academy of Science, conservation message was: “Conservation is our responsibility, a reflection of our past, present, and future.” It will also represent Nevada at the national competition.
On March 29th, a panel of five judges reviewed some 207 entries from across the state. They additionally recognized 11 first place, 6 second place, 6 third place winners as well as 32 honorable mentions. A ceremony for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers will take place the week of May 13, 2024. Winning artwork will be available online for viewing in mid-April, and gallery shows will be hosted at the National Wildlife Refuges of Southern Nevada in the near future.
